Indigenous peoples and local communities are some of the best stewards of the world’s forests, biodiversity, and critical traditional knowledge. Indigenous communities have stewarded their lands for generations, yet threats like land grabbing, mining, and agricultural expansion hinder their abilities to effectively protect their lands, which are also critical to global climate goals. These communities are calling for finance and technical support to be able to secure their rights, keep their forests standing, and create sustainable economic alternatives to deforestation.

CTGI partners directly with indigenous and local communities in Brazil and across Latin America. Over two decades of work together has taught us that long-term collaboration and supporting indigenous communities is the most effective way to protect our forests and biodiversity. These partnerships help communities manage their lands, resources, food security, and healthcare in ways that align with their cultures and worldviews.
