Kick off Water Week by joining us for Breakfast and a discussion with Robert Glennon, best-selling author of Unquenchable and co-author of the newly released report Shopping for Water on Monday, April 13th.

Clean, safe and reliable water remains a cornerstone of America’s public health system and a mainstay of our local economies.  Yet severe drought and water scarcity continue to plague many communities across the United States.  As our nation’s water infrastructure continues to crumble, it is estimated that we will need to spend in excess of $1 trillion over the next 20 years simply to restore our failing infrastructure.  Each year, American households spend on average a little over $500 for water and wastewater services.  In comparison, we spend over $1,000 for cell phone service, $1,200 for cable television, $1,500 for electricity, and $2,000 for coffee and beverages. Despite this current water crisis, local water provision remains significantly underpriced.  Will addressing the pricing issue alone solve our problem, or does the problem demand a fundamental change in the manner in which we value and manage water resources and deliver water services?

The U.S. Water Alliance’s Business Advisory Council is pleased to host Professor Robert Glennon, one of the nation’s foremost experts on water law and policy, to explore these issues and the role of the business community in helping to develop sustainable water solutions.  Glennon is Regents’ Professor and Morris K. Udall Professor of Law and Public Policy in the Rogers College of Law and the University of Arizona.  Please join us for this timely and informative roundtable discussion.
